Jul-14-05  DanRoss53: Very nice game by Lie. Looks like 35... Rd8? sealed the victory for White...although Black would have had a hard time equalising with any move.

  iron maiden: He pretty much did himself in with 33...d4. He's been making a lot less of these blunders lately though.

  acirce: This was the second game of the day, and Carlsen's first one was the marathon game Carlsen vs O Hole, 2005 while Lie's was the 11-move draw E Fossan vs K Lie, 2005. Presumably Carlsen was rather tired. He could hardly use Lie's strategy in his game either with White against a so much lower rated player, not that I am sure he would have in either case.
