Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-11-05  Knight13: Okay. Svidler got a draw again. What the cool is his problem, man? Anyway, he's still in the "drawmasters'" group right now. A win or lose'll kick him out.
Jul-11-05  Medusa: The problem of DrawMaster svidler its that its very boring to see draws all the time, and i also considered unfair to get 1 point for 2 draws or 1 win, draw illnes should be punished with that 1 win, 2-0 points a draw 0.5 that way draw GMs should end in last places.
Jul-11-05  Medusa: I think we are going to see the brilliancy prize in hands of Peter Drawdvler, for having make draw in so much games, well tournament just started but his draw attitude its clear for now, if the keeps playing to draw, hope for him to loose many points after the tournament.

Jul-11-05  Dres1: what are you two talking about? those comments are ridiculous to people who understand the game. Draws are not bad, and this was a complete game, nothing wrong with that. Maybe the prearranged draws where they dont even play is whak, but thats not the case here.
Jul-11-05  Gowe: What are you talking about. Svidler was lost and he made a great rock sacrifice to get a draw. If you think the match is boring, is not svidler fault. He is not playing for your fun. Another thing. Chess is strategic, pure strategic, and sometimes make an early draw is strategic. I don't see the problem with this. Of course i always want to see a great game, great sacrifices, amazing combination, great risks (like Tal) but you can't avoid the strategic part of chess. That's part of the beauty too.
Jul-11-05  Gowe: <Dres1> You wrote the answer at the same time i did. Similar. And curious.
Jul-11-05  Koster: I think the line black plays here is dubious but he found some good moves to draw. Ananlysts will probably find improvements for white but it seemed bott sides played well.
Jul-11-05  maoam: I vote for Medusa's "Peter Drawdvler" as the worst attempt at including the word draw in a player's name. Drawnik and drawko are just as pathetic, but I must admit I chuckled at drawcula.
Jul-11-05  Medusa: Maybe this game was bit more interesting than ther draws, but come o.n this guy has make 4 draws out of 4 games, thats a shame, he is playing not to loose and to win,and yes i want winning games, and sacrifices and beatifull things or at least wins and looses

It would be great to see a tournament with no draws allowed, play the game until someone wins.

--I vote for Medusa's "Peter Drawdvler" as the worst attempt at including the word draw in a player's name. --

well if he keeps playing like this he will be the champion of the draws, even much better that disastrous vladimir drawmnik fake champion.

Jul-11-05  Knight13: <If you think the match is boring, is not svidler fault.> No. The match is interesting. It's just not often to see people kept gettin' draws. It's cool.
Jul-11-05  hintza: Interestingly the older 7.Bc4 lines are being favoured over 7.Nf3 c5 8.Rb1.
Jul-12-05  pantlko: i think it was a very interesting game...pls dont redicule it GM's draw that ends even when all the peices are on the board....
Jul-12-05  hintza: <pantlko> I agree.

lostemperor: <pantlko> in the prediction contest Dortmund Sparkassen (2005) I predicted this game would be a (fighting) draw in 51 moves. I think they wanted to prove me wrong!
Jul-12-05  AdrianP: A draw with Black is a good result. Svidler's normally a very combative player, and there was no shortage of fight in this game. That's why he uses the Gruenfeld against 1. d4, when most other GMs regard it as positionally dubious.

<Lostemperor> Not bad!

I saw the Chessbase TV round-up last night, when Lutz seemed to think that Svidler was far too relaxed for his own good - even popping into the commentary box to chat about how bad his position was...!

Jul-14-05  pantlko: <lostemperor> r u Nostradamus ? if not....well done. BTW how much points u hv scored in prediction
Jul-16-05  patzer2: Peter Svidler's 44...Qf6! initiates a neat defensive combination to set up a pseudo-sacrifice of his Rook and force a draw by perpetual check.
