| Jul-27-05 | | Knight13: Great game! Good play by White. Advantage! |

 | | An Englishman: Good Evening: It is a nice attack, and White's 26th move is a quietly nasty kick in the ribs. But wasn't Black lost after his third move? |
| Jul-27-05 | | ILoveThisSite: I submitted this game, from The Fireside Book of Chess by Irving Chernev and Fred Reinfeld. They commented that "this unknown masterpiece appears now in book form for the first time," so I'm curious as to whether or not people already knew about this game. And yes, black was lost after his third move. The authors give this a ??, and say that 11 ... h6? was another mistake. Samisch just manuevered his pieces at will and black did not, and apparently could not, do anything to stop him. How about white's 21st move, where the knight could have been captured in four different ways, but any of the other three would have allowed him to win more quickly. Oddly enough I played a game on the internet the other night where the first 3 moves were 1 e4 c6 2 d4 d5 3 Nc3 e6. I was white and won easily (but not as brilliantly as Samisch) against a higher rated opponent |
| Jul-27-05 | | offramp: I have never seen the game before today and I have played through a helluva lot of chess games. Thank you very much, <ILoveThisSite>! |

 | | PaulLovric: the ending is brilliant but what is the continuation, i do not have enough time to look at it? |
Jul-27-05
 | | PaulLovric: <offramp> ditto |
| Jul-27-05 | | ILoveThisSite: Black's queen is attacked and white also threatens Rf6+, Kg5; Rg7+, Kh4; Rf4+, Kh3; Rh3#. Note that white could not play 36 Kxg2 because of 36 ... Qc6+. |
| Jul-27-05 | | ILoveThisSite: Sorry, should be Rg3# above. |

 | | patzer2: White's 22. Qxh6!! initiates a classic "demolition of pawn structure" combination. Notice how White's followup integrates the pin and discovered check tactical themes for a decisive result. |
| Jul-27-05 | | farrooj: nice game...Complex enough for your collection <aw>? |
| Jul-27-05 | | pogo5: Very nice game but saying that it was lost after Black's third move is one of the most stupid comments I have read recently. |
| Jul-27-05 | | Shokwave: I am overwhelmed by this game...Samisch's Immortal indeed. One of the most beautiful games I've ever seen...and a tournament game to boot. How did Samisch fair in the tourney? |
| Jul-27-05 | | ILoveThisSite: <Shokwave> He lost all his games on time except this one. No, actually I don't know. In the book it just says Gablonz, 1924. I'm not sure if it even was a tournament game, but I thought I had to put something for "event" (tournament, match, simul, etc.) and that was my best guess. Seriously if this was a tournament game with a time limit that was a pretty deep combination for someone who once did lose all his games on time. Of course this game was early in his career so maybe he didn't have that problem yet. |
Jul-27-05
 | | Honza Cervenka: Gablonz (an der Neisse) is German name of the city of "Jablonec nad Nisou" in Czech Republic. Fritz Saemisch had lived there before he moved to Berlin in 1930. |

 | | kevin86: Samisch is better known as the loser in Nimzowich's Zugzwang game.He was also known as a great speed player-who played very slow early and very fast later in the game. No pun today? |
| Jul-27-05 | | Gowe: Impressionant. Amazing. Incredible. How did he saw this combination. Is awesome. No words, i am just in shock. What a game. Marvelous combination. So deep. I can't put "!" to a move, because the whole combination is "!!". Uhau. |

Jul-27-05
 | | PaulLovric: cheers <ILoveThisSite> |
| Jul-27-05 | | Happypuppet: In just two moves (21, 22), White traded a queen and a knight for a pawn. Now that's not something you see every day. |
Jul-28-05
 | | An Englishman: Good Evening: One win like this makes all the losses to Nimzo worthwhile. |
Aug-05-05
 | | PaulLovric: is this guy related to werner herzog the german film director |
| Aug-12-05 | | ILoveThisSite: Or Whitey Herzog, the former baseball manager |
| Aug-15-05 | | shatranj: WOW, when I see games like this, than I am really proud of me that I can also play this game and I enjoy it really.how nice and magical! WOW! |
| Jan-31-06 | | jackmandoo: Instead of "Samisch's Immortal", how about an "Immortal Sandwich" that we could just keep eating for every meal. Now when you first order it you have to be really careful as to what you pick because you dont want to pick something that you get really tired of. Pick wisely because I'm sure an immortal sandwich is quite expensive. |
| Feb-01-06 | | EricCartman: <jackmandoo> <immortal sandwich is quite expensive> No way man, I have an immortal sandwich. You can buy it at K-market for $6.50. I like them very much, especially the one with bacon |
| Feb-02-06 | | jackmandoo: Hey Eric dont try and compete with me, your style is weak. If you would like to throw down with me I'd be happy to take you on in this forum. |
