Landman: A few months before this game I'd gone over "that one Tal game where he sacrificed four whole pieces" (Tal vs NN, 1963)

When the opportunity arose to play the same starting move (Nxe6!) I couldn't resist. The time control was pretty fast (G/60?). I didn't see any checkmate but I didn't see a refutation either. I remember thinking, "Good enough for Tal, good enough for me". =) Ah, if only I could play like Tal all the time; he wouldn't have missed 18.Bb5! Bc8 19.Qd4! (or Qd1) winning right away.

Mar-10-06   THE pawn: Wow Chris, nice game here! Really enjoyable, congratulations!
