Infohunter: <YoungEd: I don't get the title. nice game, though.> If <cg> were to insert the appropriate punctuation (which would vitiate the pun) it would read, "Pound, Per! Pound!"

Blunderdome: I thought the expression was "pound for pound." Hadn't seen this construction.

chillowack: White's handling of the opening was a study in passivity. 3.e3, 4.Nbd2, 5.c3, 9.a4, 10.b3...it's like he didn't really want to become active at all, he just wanted to hide behind his walls and wait for Black to attack him. He surrendered the first move advantage without a fight, and went down with a whimper.

LimSJ: <chillowack:...went down with a whimper> The title could also be "Hans Down" then ;)

backrank: <WhiteRook48: a rook weighs a pound> Of course. This is why rooks and queens are called 'heavy pieces'. Each rook a pound, each queen two pounds :)

newzild: I agree with <chillowack>. White, a strong club player, plays badly and gets thumped in routine fashion by a stronger club player. Why is this game of the day? I'd rather play though an old Capablanca classic or the latest masterpiece from Carlsen.
