Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-11-07  Maynard5: A bitterly-fought blockading game. For a long time, Vasiukov is able to hold a defensive position, using the knight on e5 to prevent an incursion on the f-file. However, Stein is able to break through on the queenside. At this point, Black's misplaced rook on h7 allows White to win the queen for two rooks, after which Black's pawns can no longer be defended.
Nov-23-11  Robeson: Note that while Black succeeded in exchanging his bad dark square bishop, it could him two tempi- retreating the rook to h8 and moving the king to g7- to effectively castle. After 20.Ba4!, White is simply better and the rest of the game revolves around whether he handles his breakthrough correctly. I think Black might even have been fine after 28...Ne5 if his h-pawn was back on h5, rather than the exposed h4 square.
