Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-03-11  syracrophy: Roland Berzinsh vs Viesturs Meijers
<Brief notations from <Chessmaster 7000>>

1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 c6 <More forcing is 2...Nf6 to put pressure on e4> 3.Nf3 d5 4.Bb3 Be6 5.O-O <Useless is 5. Nxe5 Qg5> dxe4 6.Nxe5 Bxb3 7.axb3 Bd6?! <It's too soon to decide where this bishop belongs. Better is 7...Nf6 awaiting further developments> 8.d4 exd3? <Meets with a diabolical response. More prudent is 8...Nf6> 9.Nc4! Be7<It's not easy to castle. If 9...Nf6 10. Qxd3 Be7 11. Qxd8+ Bxd8 (or 11...Kxd8 12. Nb6) 12. Nd6+ picks up material> 10.Qg4 Nf6?<Preferable is 10...Kf8 or g6> 11.Qxg7 Rg8 12.Qh6 dxc2 13.Nc3 Nbd7?? <The losing move. Necessary is 13...Rg6> 14.Re1! <Black Resigns! Suddenly there is no good defense to the threat of Nd6 mate. If 14...Nf8 15. Qxf6. Or 14...Qc7 15. Bf4> 1-0

A great miniature!
