Jan-28-06  menacing knights: Leko has a winning record over Topalov according to chessgames . Leko - Topalov
11 - 10
Jan-28-06  Jim Bartle: I'd reply that the Topalov of today is the same Topalov that lost those 11 games.
Jan-28-06  John Abraham: <Jim Bartle> You mean that the Topalov of today isn't the same Topalov that lost those 11 games to Leko, don't you?
Jan-28-06  Jim Bartle: Right. Topalov seems to have taken a big step up in the past three years. All of Leko's wins at classic time controls came earlier.

Then again, you never know. Since I'm sure that Leko is an obsessive reader of chessgames, he may be gearing up to shut up the kibitzers...

Jan-28-06  THE pawn: How about a novelty?
Jan-28-06  Bacon Short: Leko vs Topalov, 2005
Jan-28-06  sciacca khan: Crystal ball not doing so well lately. I will try the oil in the water trick.....lessee...looks like Sicilian Defense....2...Nc6 (same as deployed by Veselin against Sergy)...and Topalov racks up a win. He is going for the win. About 60 moves.
Jan-29-06  Chess Classics: It seems pretty impossible to predict who will win since it all depends on what happens to Anand...

Regards,
CC

Jan-29-06  srs555: go former wijk aan zee champion peter leko
Jan-29-06  srs555: leko is better, 11 to 10 wins with 25 draws
Jan-29-06  HannibalSchlecter: Thanks YouYourself. Anand has to be kicking himself for losing to Kamsky. He should have been at least tied at this stage.
Jan-29-06  Gowe: I think Topalov don't want to risk nothing in this game. Probably it would be a draw, because Leko won't play to win or win. I said: 50% of draw today. Perhaps 60%. (Is only my imagination, no stadistic in here).
Jan-29-06  HammerTime: hi people
Jan-29-06  HammerTime: we have a situation here!
Jan-29-06  HammerTime: if topa loses, he is done!
Jan-29-06  dejavu: I think Leko still remembers his loss to topa in their last encounter-he will be ready as his play at corus so far is not as bad as in san luis-also the pressure of high expectation is removed-so I expect solid game from both players. Topa is playing great defense in this tourney, so he is ready either way should leko gives him an opening.
