Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-06-11  qqdos: this game is a Velimirovic Attack (B89) and not (B86). It follows a line (for 20 moves) indicated at note 229 on page 55 of Akopian's 1996 (B89) Monograph.
Mar-31-12  qqdos: <(89)> interestingly the first 20 moves of this game were repeated very recently in A Manea vs S S Ilic, 2012, correctly classified as (B89). Black there, who lost, diverged from Akopian's 20...Rg8, which won for Efimenko here!
Apr-03-12  qqdos: 23.Qf3 was probably a mistake since White had an intriguing possibility to equalise by the rook sac 23.Rxb5!= if Black takes, 23...axb5 24.Qxb5+ Kc8 25.Qc6+ Kb8 26.Qb5+ Kc7 27.Qc4+ or 24...Kc7 25.Qc4+ etc. If Black declines the offer and tries 23...Ra7 24.Rf5 Ng8 25.Be3 Re6 26.Qg4 still looks drawish and better than what happened in the game.
