1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 e5 5.Nb5 a6 6.Nd6+ Bxd6 7.Qxd6 Qf6 8.Qd2 Qg6 9.f3 d6 10.Bc4 Be6 11.Bxe6 fxe6 12.0–0 Rd8 13.c3!? to control d4 [13.Nc3 Nd4 14.Ne2 is also interesting] 13...Nf6 14.Qg5 Qf7 15.Qh4 0–0 16.Bg5 d5 17.Nd2 Qc7 18.Bxf6!? Rxf6 White redeploys his pieces to the queenside and the Rf6 is a little offside 19.Qf2 d4?! 20.Nb3 Qb6 21.Rfd1 a5 22.cxd4 exd4 23.Rac1 e5 black has got rid of his doubled pawns and has a passed protected pawn, but he has many weak squares (b5 and d5)White controls the c-file and the queenside 24.Nc5 Nb4 25.a3 Nc6 26.Qc2 h6 27.Nd3 blockading the free pawn. Now it cannot do much 27...Re8 28.Qc5 Qc7?! this is a bad square for the queen, on the same file as the Rc1 [¹ 28...Qb3! prevents b4 29.Qc4+ Qxc4 30.Rxc4²; ¹ 28...Qd8 29.b4 axb4 30.axb4 b6² would hold the fort] 29.b4! axb4 30.axb4 Qe7 exchanging the queens does not help [30...b6?? 31.Qd5+ and b5. The b5 and d5 squares become important] 31.Qxe7 Rxe7 32.Rc5 Now threat is b5 and Rxe5 32...Rfe6 33.Ra1 White grabs control of the a file 33...Kf7 34.Ra8 b6 35.Rb5 Na7 [35...Rb7 36.Rd5± and then b5] 36.Nxe5+! A little combination to win the d5 pawn 36...Rxe5 37.Rxe5 Rxe5 38.Rxa7+ Ke6 [38...Kf6 39.Rd7 and Rxd4] 39.Rxg7 Rb5 40.Kf2 Rxb4 41.Ke2 Ke5 42.Re7+ Kd6 43.Re8 Rb2+ 44.Kd3 Rxg2 45.f4 Rxh2 46.f5 Kd7 The b and d pawn will fall and White has a winning endgame 1–0
