I really don't get it..

Anyway, even if he had played 38. Rxe5 from what I've seen it would have been a draw. Here's the line,

38. Rxe5 Kg7 39. Rxc5 Rd7 40. Rc6 Ne8 41. Rd1 a5 42. Ra6 a4 43. Kg2 a3 44. Kf3 a2 45. Kf4 Rxd6 46. Rdxd6 Nxd6 47. Rxa2 f6
