 | | virginmind: guess it all started with 25.Nb3. Instead, i would have put my bishop on f4 and, if attacked, back to g3. the king is ok and the pawn in e4 remains double defended.
I agree that 25.Nb3 is very attracting, offering multiple possibilities for white to defend and counter attack, but...it turned out it also offered much more attacking tactics for black! all one needed to do is to see them. and anand did! |

It was a theoretically drawn endgame from around move 30 but Anand pushed too hard for a win and duly got his ass kicked back to his hotel room by a resurgent Kamsky. This game will serve as a good reminder for Anand that he needs to hold back and learn when to draw. A draw is never a bad result compared with a loss. There's one thing about this competition, it's never dull! I love the new no-draw rules, it's becoming crazy trying to predict results. :) |

It safeguards the  and also allows the  a half open file protecting the e-pawn. 13. Ba2 is a usual move to safeguard White's light squared  as it maintains a2-g8 clear diagonal attack on the Black . |

 | | Boomie: Lovely puzzle-like tactics after 28. Ne5. I'm sure it will become an instant classic. I had to play it through a number of times to understand the power of 30...Qf5. The double attack on c2 and h3 is decisive. 8. h3 struck me as being either premature or not needed. I'm sure he played it to avoid certain variations, but it felt like white lost the initiative here. Later h3 becomes a target. |

Non of ur comments gave him any justice.> Although I am a Topalov fan, I think this game illustrates very well that Topalov have a painfully misplaced stone on his shoes, that is a strong opposition like Anand is, just like Nadal is in reference to Federer "superiority". As someone have posted, Topalov cannot easily claim his superiority over Anand. |
