May-21-06  Raskolnikov: An amazing game! I hope someone will explain me someday what has happened. I knew that Gabriel Sargissian isnīt bad but THIS GAME!!

1. The party began with 17.c5. O.K. the knight became c4, White can push d-pawn if advantageous.

2. 18.Nc4 (What?) If 18...b5 then I think 19.Qa5 may follow e.g. 19...bc 20.B:c5 Qe8 21.d6. Therefore 18...Ne6: protects c7+d6, frees f6 for Q.

3. With 22.N:b6 the second assault is launched. I am asking myself whether Gabriel has already planned R:a6. At least here I wonīt say anything without Fritz/Rybka (as you like) or my lawyer. The position is too complicated for me.

May-22-06  fab11mt: 36.Why take the Queen Back while Be7+#, am I missing something. By the way this is my first post ever, I love Chessgames - you guys rock!!.
May-22-06  fab11mt: With both White Bishop's trailing their guns on the Queenside and the b file is wide open, I think castling long is definitely a mistake and just an invitation for a stormy assault. But missing that mate on move 36 is just killing me, this guy is a 2600+ and he already sac a rook, yet he overlooked that move and stretched the game for another 12 moves.
May-22-06  Raskolnikov: Good idea, but the bishop is pinned :))

pawn to QB4: Welcome aboard fab11mt. Personally I'm too routine a thinker to do anything other than retake the queen, so at least you're thinking outside the box! but 36.Be7 is illegal 'cause of 36...Qxg1. Great game by Sargissian...he's either very brave or able to look about 20 moves ahead...or both.
May-22-06  fab11mt: Raskolnikov-thanks forgot to look on the bottom part of the board, I guess that's why Im only a class C, not looking at the entire picture. Still I won't castle on the Queenside with both bISHOP X-raying that side.
