  OBIT: In the 36th Olympiad, Corbin had four games with this gambit and scored 3.5-0.5, with sparkling play in the three wins. In the 37th Olympiad, he tried 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 d5 twice and went 0-2. Evidently, the gambit is a lot less effective when your opponent is ready for it. Corbin switched to a Sicilian after this loss.

With that said, it's hard to say if the opening is the reason he lost this particular game. It seems like Badani just outplayed him in the rook + pawn endgame.
