| | tpstar: Golly, these puns are getting better all the time. ;>D This Advance Line against the Caro-Kann (e5/g4/h4/h5/f4) is a great way to overwhelm an unsuspecting opponent, albeit with some risk. I played it in the halcyon days of my youth (?!), but now I prefer the Panov-Botvinnik Attack as sharper. Note 21. Qf2 threatens 22. Nc6+ winning the Queen, and then if 28 ... exd5 29. Bxd5+! works as the Qc5 is pinned against the mate threat on a7. The finish is one of the few Double Checks in my career. <SamAtoms1980> I've been doing this before you were born. =) This was when I played First Board for the University of Michigan. |

I lost to Caro today (partly as I didn't really have good plan - planning etc is my big weakness apart from stupidity and old age!) and I came on to see some new way to play against it...and here is an example on the front page - which I had already played over... The Panov-Bot perhaps...? |
