Jul-12-06   Runemaster: White seemed to self-destruct from about move 25 onwards. His big pawn advance backfired after 29...Nd7. One way or the other, Black is going to play exf5 with a protected passed pawn. Giving up the exchange didn't save him, either.

It's an interesting example of those times when it might be better to stay calm and passive than start a plan that worsens your own position. Afte 21.Ra3 Ra8, a repetition of moves was even possible. Black doesn't seem to have a clear plan that gives him more than the equality he already has.
