Aug-01-06  Knight13: 26. Nxe6?! seems attactive. 26... Qxe6 27. Rxe8 Rxe8 28. Rxe8 Qf5+ 29. e4, etc. Is it good for White or Black?
Aug-01-06  jhoro: it's very good for black after 26...fxe6 because of the mate threat on b2
Aug-01-06  aw1988: Bizarre draw. White seems to certainly have enough compensation though.

Marmot PFL: As soon as I saw the material imabalance and active but exposed queen I was almost certain this would end in some sort of repetition. One of the players being Leko didn't hurt either.
Aug-01-06  Knight13: Well that counts as a half-board sight problem. When not seriously observing you get thrown out and I can even drop a queen, but anyawy it's still embarrassing.
Aug-02-06  aw1988: Happens. For months I was posting quite poor analysis on this site. And you can be sure it happens elsewhere.
Aug-02-06  attica: http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp... says that the position up to move 14 is known, and was used by Alex Shabalov in a Playchess blitz tournament in 2004. In fact, a database search on Playchess (at the site http://www.chesslive.de/) for the position arising with black's move 14 comes up with six games, the first dating back to 1996; these games do not seem to be in the chessgames database. None of those games ended in a draw; two were won by white and four by black. None of those games used Leko's 15th move Rd1.
Aug-03-06  bane77: Why not 18...Qxf2?
Mar-01-09  WhiteRook48: crazy!!
