Aug-22-06		cu8sfan: Yeah, a wild finish, but those moves were real. They were blitzing them out like hell, and after the draw they both had to laugh.

Aug-22-06		cu8sfan: <coolthing76> Yes, I was there. The pictures on the Lichthof Chess Champions (2006) page are mine, shot with my cell phone. It was possible to get really close to the players. There was some footage on Swiss TV. I'll post a link in a minute.

Aug-22-06		Dionyseus: I think that this was just Kasparov's gift to a chess player he looks up to. 44.Bc5 throws away the game and Kasparov clearly could have taken the Bishop with 44...Rc3+ Instead Kasparov played what is perhaps the worst possible move, 44...Kd5??, allowing white to win by simply taking the rook 45.Bxa1. Instead of taking Kasparov's gift, Korchnoi opted for a smaller gift with a draw with 45.Rxf5?

Aug-23-06		Manic: <Dionyseus> u forgot to mention that 45.Rxf5?? gives Kasparov the chance to win the bishop again with 45...Rc3+ and Rxc5. Except Kasparov plays 45...Kxc5??

Aug-23-06		Chuckles: Right, except that after 45..Rc3+ and Rxc5, Korchnoi wins back the bishop by f4.
