Dec-06-06  Gantastic: I'll have to remember this way to enter the St. George. Nice win by black -- White's 8. Bg5 gave black the opportunity to gain the kingside space that frees up black in St. George-style openings.
Dec-06-06  soberknight: I assume it is not coincidence that chose a game from this opening while the chessgames challenge is going on within this irregular defense. Players on both sides of that game will find the "similar games" link useful: Games Like R Grab vs G Hechl, 1997.
Dec-06-06  Tenderfoot: Deja vu!
Dec-06-06  Tenderfoot: This game may feel a little eerie and foreboding for team white.

  kevin86: Can one transpose from the Dragon Variation to the St George and slay the dragon?

Funny,how pieces are pixily sacrificed all over only to end with a very common back row mate!

How strong is the black pawn? It's worth two white pawns--the two which normally hem in the king in mates of this type,lol

Dec-06-06  Sololoy: The game could have finished some 9 moves earlier; if instead of 31 - Qh5+? had played

31 - Qe1+
32 Qg1 Rh8!
33 QxQ Be3++

For blocking moves, then Bf4++

Something missing (besides the one delay move Rxd5+)?

Dec-06-06  sfm: <Sololoy: The game could have finished some 9 moves earlier..31-.Qe1..Something missing?> No! Well spotted!
Dec-06-06  schnarre: Now this brings back memories!
Feb-14-07  erli: Why did white exchange a bishop for a pawn O_O?
