Jan-16-07  Mateo: 33...gxf5 instead of 33...g5 was a questionable decision in zeitnot.

tamar: Very flexible play by Radjabov to trade off his good bishop just at the time control. Now he can alternate attacks on the Kside and Qside while the Black rook is offside.
Jan-16-07  azaris: Rf1 looks rather nasty.
Jan-16-07  THE pawn: The Rb5 rook looks useless now. Tiviakov will lose a pawn sooner or later. either the f or d one.

boz: Black has got to activate that rook.

suenteus po 147: That bishop at b3 also looks lame, but Radjabov better not forget that it's there or it will strike out of its hidey-hole like a viper.
Jan-16-07  THE pawn: The sort of mistake I always make, <suenteus po 147>.

tamar: <THE pawn> Radjabov may have given Tiviakov a chance. He has to play 41...Bxh6 42 Qxh6 d5 with complications, but he has played 41...Rc5 which is too slow I think.

  Gypsy: 42.Rf3 look natural now.

boz: Black will probably lose the f-pawn, but if he can force the queens off at the same time while finding a way to play d5, he may save the ending down a pawn.

  tamar: <Gypsy> 41 Bxf8 Qxf8 42 Rf1 would eliminate the possibility of ...d5. Radjabov has allowed it again with 42 Rf3 (42...Bxh6 43 Qxh6 d5) so he must not be worried.

  boz: 42...Rc8
Jan-16-07  THE pawn: To me it looks like a draw...

Jan-16-07  euripides: 43.Nd5 looks promising.
Jan-16-07  THE pawn: Radjabov is probably considering Nc2 Ne3 Nf5 to redirect his knight, because right now it's doing nothing.
Jan-16-07  Mateo: <tamar: <Gypsy> 41 Bxf8 Qxf8 42 Rf1 would eliminate the possibility of ...d5. Radjabov has allowed it again with 42 Rf3 (42...Bxh6 43 Qxh6 d5) so he must not be worried.> Why should Radjabov be worried? 42.Rf3 Bxh6 43.Qxh6 d5 44.exd5. White has everything under control.
Jan-16-07  chessic eric: <THE pawn: Radjabov is probably considering Nc2 Ne3 Nf5 to redirect his knight, because right now it's doing nothing.> except preventing ...d5.

  Gypsy: <tamar> Thx!

Just intutively, I'd play White as in the game for the few moves. The reason is that, as Black, I would sooo hate to cut off the Bb3 from the K-side even for a turn or two.

Jan-16-07  THE pawn: I think putting the knight on f5 will achieve more than defending d5.
Jan-16-07  THE pawn: oh well, I was right all the way yesterday, I'm wrong every move today.

Marmot PFL: Nc2 loses to bxh6. White might try nd5 Bxd5 Qxd5+ followed by Be3-f2-h4 but has no forced win.

tamar: Maybe ...d5 is not good per se, but it is better than losing this way. Radjabov has the option now to play Nd5, exchange and then withdraw the bishop to e3 and all his pieces will be better, especially his bishop.
