  Jonathan Sarfati: Green normally knew better than to play dubious gambits like this, but at the time, I was the youngest player in my first NZ Championship. 7. b4 was a stupid recommendation in "An Opening Repertoire for the Attacking Club Player" by Keene and Levy. It just makes a bad gambit worse by weakening the K-side and shielding Black's Pb7.

12. Nd2 resulted in a quick collapse after ...dxc3. But even after better moves, White has a very strong attack with ...g5 and ...Ne5 -- compare the 19th century brilliancies Kolisch vs Anderssen, 1860 and Reiner vs Steinitz, 1860
