Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-18-07  positionalbrilliancy: Why doesn't 25...Nxb2 26. Qxb4 Nd3 not work?
Feb-18-07  bob000: You lose two pieces for the rook.
Feb-18-07  Bob726: <postionalbrilliancy,bob000> Actully it works after any queen move ex:Qd4 Nxf4 wins a pawn
Feb-19-07  Ulhumbrus: 18 axb5 gains a pawn but also concedes the bishop pair so that White's advantage may not be enough to win. One alternative is the pawn sacrifice 18 Be4 Bxe4 19 Nxe4 Rxe5 20 Qf3 but that requires examination
Feb-19-07  bob000: Good point Bob726. Perhaps Svidler wanted to retain the bishop pair and the initiative, thinking the central pawn would inevitably fall.

plang: Svidler ommitting d6 in the opening looks highly unusual. Has anyone seen this system before?
