percyblakeney: Finally the water turned out to be a bit too deep in the Aeroflot Open for Novikov, here Alekseev seems to be winning already in the opening and can finish the game in style.

  al wazir: 34...Kxf7 35. g8=Q+ Kxg8 36. Rxc7 wins. Or white could have played 34. Be6 Qxh7 (34...Qc4 35. g7+ Ke7 36. g8=Q+) 35. gxh7 Kg7 36. d6 Bb5 37. d7.

IMlday: hmmm.. Does Alekseev follow Canadian theory? 14..h6 was unsuccessful in T Krnan vs D Filipovich, 2004
Nov-04-07  stanleys: Very nice finish by Alekseev
Nov-15-07  zealouspawn: I'm a fan of 25 d5! , blocking out black's queen and opening up a diagonal to the king--both setting up the ending combination.
