 | | An Englishman: Interesting how Svidler is harassing the Bishop. By combining Nc2 with a4, he now has the option of Nc2-e3 and c3-c4, cutting off the defense of the a6 pawn. |
| Mar-03-07 | | hitman84: The Rook now is badly trapped. |
| Mar-03-07 | | grolich: Wow, in this move order, I was sure d5 was still the best move, but a friend of mine just reported that rybka gives white a +0.7 on dxc5!? interesting.
Rybka usually does not like to give such large advantages... |

 | | An Englishman: Interesting sac by Anand. If 27.dxc5, White traps his own Rook indefinitely. if 27.d5, perhaps ...Be7-d5. |
| Mar-03-07 | | adf: bad knight: http://www.chesspro.ru/chessonline/... |
| Mar-03-07 | | grolich: Obviously its non (too) materialistic approach still believes that black is just in a bad position. Lets see, dxc5, followwd by... what?
perhaps Re1 and Na3...
| Mar-03-07 | | mack: Erm... |
| Mar-03-07 | | grolich: I believe dxc5 was interesting... not sure what's going on:
dxc5 c6 (the rook must remain trapped), Re1 Bc4 and perhaps now something like Bd6 fllowed by Ne3, and black will have to take on d6 soon... and free white's rook. If he doesn't, that bishop is annoying. interesting. ok, d5 takes the game to other channels. |

 | | Domdaniel: Was that <d4-d5, d5-d4, j'adoube, d4xc5>, there, just now? Or am I hallucinating again? The scorpions, no, not the scorpions... |
| Mar-03-07 | | hitman84: Bd6 now for anand getting rid of the Bad bishop and clearing the the file for Rook. |
| Mar-03-07 | | grolich: Oh, d5 was a mistake in the broadcast? good... that's going to be interesting. |
| Mar-03-07 | | BadKnight: adf: Thanks |
Mar-03-07
 | | Marmot PFL: Also expected d5. Black is happy to trade the doubled c pawns |
Mar-03-07
 | | Eyal: <Marmot PFL: Also expected d5. Black is happy to trade the doubled c pawns> But it's not a trade now, it's a pawn sacrifice... |
Mar-03-07
 | | MrSpock: Oops - now White can play c6! |
| Mar-03-07 | | you vs yourself: 27..Kf7? 28.c6! and black's bishop can't attack the rook anymore. 27..c6 28..Bd8 and where does the rook go? |
Mar-03-07
 | | Eyal: The maneuver 28.Nd4-c6 might be strong now. The rook can remain on a5. |
Mar-03-07
 | | chancho: Man, what a shame that Svidler doesn't take better care of himself.
If the guy devoted himself to getting fit rather than eating those damned honey buns, he'd be an even better player. Oh well... |
Mar-03-07
 | | Domdaniel: <Eyal> I agree: the Nd4 possibility must be the main reason for the rising engine evals. Nb4 is also interesting, though, similarly aiming for c6 but harassing the a-pawn rather than the bishop en route. |
| Mar-03-07 | | BadKnight: <Marmot PFL> there was a pawn on d4, so Bc5 was not possible. |
Mar-03-07
 | | Jack Kerouac: Whew! Thanks to a former number 2 I escaped from The Village and think that maybe that rook on a1 needs some exercise. |
Mar-03-07
 | | MrSpock: Go Peter, go! |
| Mar-03-07 | | hitman84: <yvy>c6 Re1 pinning the Bishop on e2 |
Mar-03-07
 | | Marmot PFL: < BadKnight > I forgot white had played a4 Bc2 so Ra5 guarded c5. Otherwise Bxc5 looked Ok. Maybe the doubled c pawn is not so important but white has good sq for knight on d4 |
Mar-03-07
 | | An Englishman: What do you think of Nc2-b4, not necessarily threatening to take the a-pawn, but to continue with either Nd5 or Nc6? Nc2-d4 also looks pretty good. |
