FSR: Nice game, but very likely not Emory Tate (born December 27, 1958), who is an American and would have been at most 10 years old at the time of this game.
Sep-22-11  oscarwilde: Agree with FSR. Anyhow, mr Tate seems to be a very good chess-player. Shouldn´t he be more well known? I, at least, have never heard of him before this Game of the day.

Shams: Black dug his own grave here, White's surname notwithstanding.

<oscarwilde> Emory Tate actually has quite the cult following-- I'd say one of a half-dozen American IMs that are well known. For years he owned the Armed Forces Championship-- admittedly, no great shakes when Expert players routinely win it, but still. He's a fearless attacker who has played the circuit a lot and is known to be pleasant to opponents.
