Kibitzer's Corner
May-07-08  protossmaster12: Here Irwanto (white) played 21. cd7.

In this game, White was the first to variate from previously played move 21. Qxc4 Ne5 22. Qa6 Nf3+ 23. Bf3 Qf3 24. Qa7 Rc6 25. Rab1 that ended in a draw, Nikolic-Khalifman/Reykjavik 1991.

So, Wesley (black) replied with the natural 21. ... Rc7. White answered with 22. Rac1.

In move 22, Wesley found a way to complicate things by 22. ... Be6!, and ended up with the advantage. It's a pity that Irwanto must choose between 23. Qa4 and 23. Qf3 and 23. Qe6, which all led to an inferior endgame for White.

After 23.. Rd7, the rest is a matter of technique for Black.

Mar-20-17  Cobax12: Not only is about the good complicated middle game by So, also great Rook ending management!
