Oct-14-08   DiscoJew: A nice pounding dragon attack! Perhaps inspiring Young Carlsen to take up the line on the highest level!

Gilmoy: Black thinks: <My own pawns are in the way ... my Knight is in the way ... his pawns are in the way ... OK, now I'm winning.>

29..Rxc2 controls b2 no matter what White does (30.Nxc2 uncovers Bg7), and White has only a few spite-blocks vs. 30..Q(a6,a8)+. When castling opposite, White really must resist the urge to move the b-pawn. Better to tolerate Black's Rc4 than to open a1 to the Dragon's tongue.

21.Kb2 stepping into the pin is a hoot, sheer audacity. White could have saved about four tempi by just ignoring the Q-side, and spent it on remodeling Black's K-side first. That's how dragons usually die.
