Resignation Trap: At first, I thought that the result was a typo. But then I realized that Black's Queen on d4 isn't so well-posted (35.Rd1!).
May-11-07   sleepkid: Quite a blunder on Bologan's part.
May-11-07   BadTemper: Quite a lost position he was in for the previous 10 moves. There is no such thing as a blunder in a completely losing game.

This is a classic chess symptom. No such thing as winning a well played game, only losing a game by a horrible blunder??!! Well played by Iskusnyh.

Bologan's position is worse, but it is not completely lost until he makes the blunder.

Material wise the game is even at the end, though Bologan's disconnected pawns are a major weakness. However, the presence of opposite coloured bishops indicates strong drawing possibilities if the queens and rooks could be swapped off.

So, the position wasn't "completely losing" until Bologan made his blunder.

jakecoul: 33. h5 is the blunder? 33. Qa1 escapes but can black still defend the c pawn?

Well, Bologan is going wrong even with 31. ...Qa1+ since he really gets no counterplay with this maneuver, and ends up putting his queen on the wrong side of his pawns. He needed to put together a stubborn defense instead, and attempt to trade off the queens and rooks.

May-16-07   BadTemper: best to keep my mouth shut. nobody has anything positive to say on this site.

mostly a bunch of small-minded pessimists. i wonder if there is a community that doesnt have angry argumentative people...

Breunor: Anybody know why black played Nh5 on 14 -- I thought the knight is well posted on f4? Wouldn't 14 f5 be more thematic?
