Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-19-07  tal lover: Probably with the best play black could force a draw after move 44
Jun-19-07  dabearsrock1010: 69...Kg1 70.Kg3 and black can queen but then gets checkmating...a cruel fate
Jun-19-07  dabearsrock1010: i actually find this particularly constructive because OTB I would think this is drawn...but this is a really neat trick in such a situation
Jun-19-07  Phoenix: Don't forget 69...Kg1 70.Kg3 h1=N+! 71.Kf3! and wins. A familiar tactic well worth remembering.
Jun-19-07  dabearsrock1010: wow thanks for pointing that out <Phoenix>...underpromotion is probably the worst aspect of my tactical vision
Jun-20-07  somitra: 27.Qg6 would have been better. There was no need to bring the queen to defend the 'a' pawn. Black's position is already quite bad by this time and attacking it was better.
Jun-20-07  Atking: There is something wrong with 16. ...Nxc5? I mean 17.RxBd6 QxR 18.Bf4 Qd8
Jun-21-07  Gouki: good solid play by Jakovenko :D

but a question..

on move 54 why did black play 54...Ra1?? instead of Rxh4?

Jun-25-07  scholes: why not 32.rxa5??
Jun-25-07  scholes: <gouki> perhaps bcoz of rd1 after which black king is trapped and black rook has nothing better than to oscillate between h4,h3 and h2 squares bcoz of threat rh1# meanwhile white gets 2 tempi to move his f pawn to f4 square and position his rook behind passed pawn , after reaching this position white position must had been easier to convert according to sasikiran so he decided to play a different move though his position was perhaps lost anyway
Jun-25-07  scholes: i checked with tablebases position arising after 54 ..rxh4 and it showed a draw
