David2009: From move 75 on, this is a really well played NN v P ending by White. he makes it look easy. At move 82 (Black to play)

... Kc7 made it slightly easier for White. However, after 82... Ke8 83. Ke6 Kf8 84. Nd5 Kg7 85. Nf4 Kf8 86. Nh5! Ke8 87. Ng7+ Kd8 88. Kd6 Kc8 89. Ne6 the result is the same. Or 82... Kd8 83. Ke6 Ke8 84. Nd5 Kf8 85. Nf4 Ke8 86. Ng6 Kd8 87 Nge5 Ke8 89. Nd7 Kd8 90. Kd5 Kc8 91. Kc6 Kd8 92. Kd6 Kc8 93. Kd5 etc with an ending similar to the game.

Mar-04-09   Hugh the Drover: Wow, an example of the Troitzky Line at work, where two Knights can force mate but only if an opposing pawn is suitably situated. Otherwise only a stalemate can be forced (but not for a weakness or lack of force by the Knights). Of course, we mere mortals are a few light years from being able to pull off this checkmate. It has to be harder than the B + N checkmate.

For other games with this mate, see Bobotsov vs Bohatirchuk (1954) & Nimzovich vs Marshall (1912). In the above game, Black makes White "prove it" at move 73, who was glad to oblige.
