 | | kutztown46: I will be away when the move is announced today. Regarding forums, if GMT plays the expected 54...Rc6, the forums will not change. If he plays something else, <MAJ> will post the new forum assignments which I emailed to him. Assignments were prepared for ten alternate black moves. |
 |
| Jun-29-08 | | classF: I don't think Timmerman is being rude to play out the game. He must be thinking that exhibition games should be relatively complete. He played out his previous exhibition loss G Timmerman vs M Umansky, 2005 until the result was overwelmingly clear. I am also reminded of this quote from GM Nickel "Here Hydra offered a draw, which was completely okay, but I refused it, because in an exhibition game people would prefer to see how both sides solve the remaining problems." I don't think GMT would mind if <chessgames.com> started another game before this one offically ends. Obviously, GMT is playing other games now. So, rather than asking GMT to resign, which I think is rude, a better solution would be to just start another game now. |

| Jun-29-08 | | steros: The game is over. It doesn't exist a drawing line. A new game now. |

CG will inform us. |
 |
| Jun-29-08 | | zanshin: <RO> I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it said "Voting closes today." When he does not move, <CG> automatically gives him a 24 hr extension - at least this was the programming when he still had extensions. I don't think they have changed the code, hence the (now inaccurate) caption. |

 | | patzer2: August 1, 2008 will mark the one-year anniversary of the beginning of our first move in this game -- after over 200 pages of debate over the merits of 1. e4 versus 1. d4. It's amazing to me the level of cooperation and team work achieved since that difficult beginning. However, when we are bringing the game to a winning conclusion is not the time to get upset over the length of the game or to make personal attacks on our opponent. We have more to lose than just this game, if all of us don't display a polite and respectful attitude toward our distinguished opponent. |

 |
| Jun-29-08 | | hcbsb: I think it is not necessary to be worried about an early resignation.
He has the right to play until the game has been completely over. In Rook endgames, sometimes unexpected drawn position appears, I hope he is not expecting such position in this game, but it is his only chance. De Firmian, without success, had an attempt in a completely lost game. [Event "Ch USA"]
