Jul-24-07  Per: Typical Russian prearranged draw...
Jul-24-07  tal lover: <Per> I dont agree with you, i think that Motylev saw a beatiful combination to win a pawn, but couldnt find a win in the endgame, it was a great fight

YouRang: For the record: When this game was going on live, I expressed dismay at 34...Nxg4, thinking that giving up the knight for a couple of pawns was hasty, giving white an easier draw.

Now, having spent some time checking it out on the computer, I think the game was probably a draw anyway. However, I suspect that by hanging on to the knight with 34...Nc4, black would have made the job more difficult for white.

Aug-09-07  Mateo: 19.Ra3 (?!) was a dubious pawn sacrifice in my opinion. 19.Rb1 should be better. White wins back the "b7" pawn, as Black cannot protect it since he first have to take care of his Knight.

I agree with <YouRang> of course. 34...Nxg4(?) throws away any winning prospects. No doubt 34...Nc4 was better.
