Aug-02-07  Pawsome: {...Qc6+ /Qf3 Qc4 draw
Aug-02-07  Knight13: He's a freakin' 2591 why should Polgar accept draw?
Aug-02-07  Xaurus: <He's a freakin' 2591 why should Polgar accept draw?>Because he's obviously playing above his rating in this tournament.
Aug-02-07  MyCatPlaysChess: Rf3 doesn't give white any advantage.
Aug-02-07  ssj: looks like Bu is in trouble, VW is playin excellent some last games on tournament.
Aug-02-07  syracrophy: <Knight13> The rating's not so important on this moment. Just look at the position! It's a draw!
Aug-02-07  triangulation: so is the staring positon of chess. (a draw). i think polgar should keep fighting.
Aug-02-07  madlydeeply: I think Judit should keep ona playing. With a queen and a rook, there is always a chance to checkmate the whippersnapper.
Aug-02-07  madlydeeply: Is it just my imagination, or does Lucky seem to like these off balance material endings in which he has more pawns...
Aug-02-07  Atking: <triangulation: so is the staring positon of chess. (a draw). i think polgar should keep fighting.> Of course fighting sirit and creativity is a good. But here it looks really difficult to make some progress. It's too much balanced. <Syracrophy> You are right! Rating is not the matter.
Aug-02-07  Billy Ray Valentine: I don't see how this isn't a draw. I think even I could draw this position. How can white make progress here?

What next for black? Is Qc1 best here?

Aug-02-07  madlydeeply: A few years ago, Salov dominated Khalifman in a candidates match by heading for a quiet endgame and then shuffling around until Khalifman made a mistake. Every single game went that way. So I say keep shuffling, Judit. I think rating does matter here. Yanni might be a basket case right now, who knows? probably.

beenthere240: Kasparov describes something like this in his recent book about chess in the boardroom. Pretty stupid book BTW.
Aug-02-07  syracrophy: Now the unique possibility for a win for Polgar is her extra pawn on the queenside. If Pelletier can protect the a4-square succesfully, it will be very difficult for Polgar to make a progress
Aug-02-07  Scuba Driver: Couldn't Polgar just push the pawns on the queenside and win this?
Aug-02-07  technical draw: I think there's also money involved here. Thats why they fight to the end cause you get different prize money for different standings.

beenthere240: After ...Bf4 we're entering repetition of position country.
Aug-02-07  Ybrevo: 49. - Bf4, and how will White progress?

plang: <Scuba Driver: Couldn't Polgar just push the pawns on the queenside and win this?>

With her king exposed that would be very difficult and risky.

Aug-02-07  syracrophy: <Scuba Driver: Couldn't Polgar just push the pawns on the queenside and win this?>

In fact, the queenside pawns are Polgar's unique possibility for a win. But it's not that easy. If black covers a4 successfully, the queenside pawns will remain petrified

Aug-02-07  Pawsome: Draw. It's official.
Aug-02-07  boz: Will we see the rapid playoff?
Aug-02-07  Ybrevo: Nice defence by Pelletier, he has shown some solid chess in this tournament. Thanks for the games <CG> :)
Aug-02-07  MyCatPlaysChess: Will CG broadcast the playoffs?
Aug-02-07  madlydeeply: Dangnabbit! Fischer would have ground this out for hours....when are we going to see another fighter like Fischer/Korchnoi/Kasparov/Karpov, anyhoo? don't you miss them? I do.

Korchnoi is still rockin at least.
