Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-11-07  extremepleasure: It seems that Glenn Flear missed a golden opportunity to win this game. Had he played 22.Nc7! instead of 22.Bg3 he would have had almost a wining position after 22...Qc7 23.Rf6! Qh2 24.Rg7! Kg7 25.Bh5! Re5 (if 25...Qe5 26.Rf7+ Kg8 27.Bd8 Bc8 28.Qe5 Re5 29.Rc7 Rh5 30.Rc8+ etc). 26.Rf7+ Kg8 27.Bd8 Bd5 28.cd5 Qh5 29.Ra7. This position after the black's 21st move could be a very nice puzzle of the day.

Domdaniel: Heroic defence is always spangled with missed opportunities: that's why it's heroic. This game gets the <Frogspawn> "Spirit of Saint Nimzo" award for balls.
