|Sep-13-07|| ||cannibal: <chessgames.com>, some moves are missing:
27. Ne4 Qf4 28.Qxf4 draw.
|Sep-13-07|| ||pawnofdoom: This is boring. I was expecting better from this tournament. Follows Karjakin vs Onischuk, 2007 for like the first 20 moves|
|Sep-13-07|| ||Marmot PFL: What Leko was looking for, an easy first round draw w black. (This is not a criticism). If he used his time well and found some new plans for white he will be a strong contender.|
|Sep-13-07|| ||ALEXIN: Yes some moves are missing ( 27. Ne4 Qf4 28.Qxf4 draw).|
I asked me why draw if white can be with one pawn up.
I give the line: 28. Bxf4, 29. Knc5 Bc8 30 Bc4 and a6 pawn will fall.
|Sep-13-07|| ||Marmot PFL: <ALEXIN> Hard to believe that was played, when black has easy draws with either 27...Qe7 or 27...Bxe4 28.Qxe4 Qe5 29.Qxe5 Bxe5 30.Bc4 c5.|
|Sep-13-07|| ||ALEXIN: Yes was played in accordance to official site:
|Sep-14-07|| ||einneu: Not so simple.After 29.Nc5 Bc8 30.Bc4 Bd6 31.Nxa6 c6 the night is trapped.In fact both white's pieces are completely immobilised. 31.Bxa6 Bxa6 32.Nxa6 c6 (or c5) is even worse. The only game of the first round that black had the initiative.I wonder if Grischuk is the "weaker" of the "8".We'll see...|
|Sep-14-07|| ||cannibal: On chessbase.com, GM Marin is not really satisfied with the draw, suggesting 31.Bxa6 (instead of Nxa6?) Bxc5 32.Bxc8, with a pawn-up opposite colored bishop ending.
However, he may just be missing 31. ... Bxa6 32.Nxa6 c5!, and the knight is trapped again.|
Btw, <einneu>, c5 may be quite a bit stronger than c6 in these lines, as whites only chance to free himself would be Kd2, followed by c3. With the pawn on c5, black doesn't have to do anything against that, and his king will come first.
(Unless I'm missing something, that is.)

|Sep-14-07|| ||znprdx: znprdx: <pawnofdoom: This is boring.> Well it is another "yes" in the Random 960 column eh?. I mean if they are going to play this stuff then they should go somewhere with it right?|
