Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-25-07  Sularus: Draw? I dont get it.

Did white intend to draw when he played 22. Bh6?

Sep-25-07  Scarecrow: During the game many of us wondered why Leko didn't choose 21...c5 and play on with a big time advantage. (Rybka's line was some 21...Qb7+ 22. f3 c5 with an evaluation around -0,30). In the press conference he said that he feared that after 21...c5 White can play 22. Qf4 and later h2-h4 and while that Black c-pawn is not really going anywhere, White has a great initiative on the Kingside. He also pointed out that Gelfand could have drawn with 20. Bxg7 Kxg7 21. Qg5+ (perpetual), that's why he wasn't expecting this 22. Bxh6 with draw.
Sep-25-07  sanyas: Yes he did. Now Black can't run away from the checks, so they will go on forever.
Sep-25-07  sanyas: <King mega> this is the World Championship. The World Cup starts in November.
