Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-07-07  810609: From move 17, Bacrot´s play in this game was a pure disaster.

<17. ... Bd3??> - 17. ... Nxd4 18. cxd4 Qc6 19. Bf3 Rad8 leeds to an equal game

<19. ... Re8> I think better was 19. ... Raf8 with idea of allowing 20. e6 Rf6 21. f5 Qh4 in exchange for freeing f6 for rook and getting Queen in play again, or even little bit of "cheap" tactics - 21. ... Nxd4 22. Bxh6? Nxf5+ 23. Rf2 Rxh6

<20. ... Rff8> - again, why? Something like 20. ... Qg6 21. f5 Qg4 22. Nxb6 cxb6 23. Bxb6 cxb6 might give maybe slight, but still practical chance to survive.

<26. ... Dh6> - horrid final mistake. Game is lost anyway, but if Sergei would have found 27. Rh3! (27. ... Qc1+ 28. Vf1 Bxd4+ 29. cxd4 Qc4 30. f6) , they can save three moves :-)
