WannaBe: Pun of the year!!!!!!! If you don't get it, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-Ka...

This is the start of the NBA trend, where everyone wore short shorts, (Yes, even Larry Bird, and his white-white legs!!)

Evidence: http://www.fansedge.com/Images/Prod... I mean, C'mon, he even signed the Sports Illu. cover!!!

Magic Johnson looked much better with short shorts... :-)))

Sep-29-09  psychler: Great pun!

WannaBe: By my estimate, <psychler>'s next post on CG.com will occur sometimes around march 4th, 2011... :-))))))
Sep-29-09  Thuellin: Unfortunately, "Hou" is not pronounced like "who," which ruins quite a few puns.

"Hou Hou Hou, Merry Christmas!"

Sep-29-09  BadKnight: Deadly pun!

HeMateMe: Its a great pun. [Hou Knew?!]
Sep-29-09  dTal: I think it was very well played by Hou Yifan though. Calculated the tactics nicely. Not at all trivial.

RandomVisitor: 3 minutes per move - perhaps 11...Nc5, 12...Be7, 14...fxe5 or 15...fxe5 were improvements for black.

Chessmensch: We can't let this go without referring to the Nair commercials that used short shorts. Here's one of several: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou9A...
Sep-29-09  Anthony1: the main thing I learned is its a bad idea to be a greedy pig in the Ruy with 4...Nxe4 By move 9 all the lines are open for White with development lead and a safe king position. Meanwhile Black is constricted, doubled pawns and King in the center. That's a poisoned pawn for sure.

RandomVisitor: 8...Nb7 seems to be the cause of many of Black's problems. 8...Nf5 might be better.
Sep-29-09  DrCurmudgeon: <mistreaver: yeah Nigel loses to 13 year old girl.>

Yeah, if it had been a 13 year old boy he wouldn't have been upset. But a girl? Why, he should give up chess!

P.S. I'm being sarcastic. But don't mind me. I'm old, I'm tired, and my feet hurt.

Sep-29-09  dumbgai: Short picked a strange opening.
Sep-29-09  WhiteRook48: 4...Nxe4 is actually a line played thousands of times, many with wins for black
Sep-29-09  zdigyigy: <whiterook48> Korchnoi, in fact, plays open Lopez's as black and does just fine.
Sep-29-09  eternaloptimist: very funny pun :D
Sep-29-09  dumbgai: <WhiteRook48> By "strange opening" I meant Nb7.
