ahmadov: Yeap, this is the shortest draw in this tournament so far...
Feb-21-08  Ulhumbrus: Aronian gains the bishop pair, but Shirov gains a lead in development.

Instead of 14 g4, 14 Bc3 keeps the bishop pair, but then on 14..d5 15 cxd5 Nxd5 attacks the B again.

15..Nxd4 removes White's Queens's Bishop, but Black's Queen's Bishop is attacked as well. However White's development is backward and the immediate consequence is that he lacks time for h4 after Nxg6.

Feb-22-08  hedgeh0g: Why do players draw in positions like this? Surely they could play on a few more moves, maybe try a couple of pawn breaks...with so much material left, it's hard to imagine that the game can already be written off as a draw.
Feb-26-08  erniecohen: This is an awfully good position for black to take a draw. 18...c5 19. Qf2 d5.
