Eyal: A very clever exchange sac by Carlsen led to an almost complete paralysis of White's game.

tamar: Last move 27...b5 giving Aronian pause.

28 Qxb5 Rc4 is a mousetrap theme, shutting the queen out from protection of e2.

Eyal: <Anyone know when it deviated from "theory"?>

Apparently as early as 9...Bxd5. 9...Nxd5 was tried in Karjakin vs F Bindrich, 2007, not very successfully...

keypusher: Right after it was made, I thought Carlsen's exchange sacrifice was total junk. Judging from the comments, a number of posters felt the same way.
Mar-06-08  ajile: Interesting game. Rc3 maybe?

You're joking, aren't you.

Has any one besides me done a space count? I think Black is better here.

Mar-06-08  ajile: Draw? Wow that sucks.
