  whiteshark: <19.Bg5!> with the idea of 20.Ne4 looks strong. If 19...Nxd4, then 20.Qf4 c5 21.Qh4 .

whiteshark: Report from the tournament page:

<In the rapid game Van Wely scored his first win in the tournament. Which wasn’t exactly what the spectators expected after the opening. The Dutchman got into a compromised position and Ivanchuk could have won a pawn with 15.Bxh6. This was not enough for the Ukrainian, who was more ambitious and tried to add a knight to the attack with 15.Ne4. However, after Black’s reply 15…h5 he released the tension, where he might have continued attacking with 16.Nh6+ Kh8 17.Qf3 followed by g4.>

1) <15.Bxh6? gxh6 <<>>> or am I missing s.th.?

2) <16.Nh6+? gxh6 17.Bxh6 Bg7 18.Qxh5 >

and <18...Nf6 19.Qg5 Ne8 >

Mar-18-08  GibGezr: Yeah, while 15.Bxh6 looks threatening, 15...gxh6 and black seems to have an answer for any possible short-term tactics...and he's up the exchange. It looks scary, but I can't find an answer for white. What am I missing?
