Jun-01-08  positionalgenius: what a game. karpov still has it
Jun-01-08  percyblakeney: Pono seems to be doing fine until he blunders away the pawn on d5 with 32. ... Re7. From there things just go from bad to worse for him, and Karpov wins easily.
Jun-03-08  messachess: <blunders away the pawn on d5 with 32. ... Re7.> Could he have saved the pawn? I don't see how. I was looking at 33...Nb2.

Without Re7 white can't play Nc3 because of Nb2 (Nxa3 is often also playable). Many of the moves lines suggest instead of 32. ... Re7 lets black keep a small advantage but in rapid chess these things of course happen.

Jun-03-08  messachess: <percyblakeney> OK, I see. In fact without 32...Re7, white really has few prospects. It's quite drawish, I'd say. Nice game though.
Jun-17-08  apexin: karpov does what he knows best : to exploit and win black's isolated d pawn.
Jan-01-09  woodenbishop: Great game!
Jan-01-09  WhiteRook48: "I'm not rolling over and losing before the next generation"
