Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-27-08   Zygalski: I think 24.Rxg7! sac is totally sound & thus begins a remarkable king hunt.
Jun-27-08   Cyphelium: I don't understand 26.- Ke8. Isn't 26.- Bd5 a better defence? 27. Nxd5 Rxd5 28. Qh8+ Ke7 29. Qxa8 Qxc2 looks ok for black, as does 27. Qxh6+ Ke8 28. Rg8+ Kd7 29. Nxd5 Qxc2!. There is also 27. Bh7 threatening mate, but after 27.- Ke8 28. Rg8+ Kd7 29. Qxf7+ Kc6, the bishop is really useful on d5.
Jun-27-08   Zygalski: After 26...Bd5 27.Qxh6+ Ke8 28.Qf6! is rather nasty, as is 27...Ke7 28.Qg5+ Kf8 29.Qf6! both lines threatening Rh3-Rh8# with Black definately in trouble.

After 26...Bd5 27.Nxd5? I don't see how White can prevent losing material without getting mated on the back-rank.

Mazi's 26.Ke8? does seem rather an odd choice but perhaps White is already winning. One for the Fritz brigade.

Jun-30-08   Cyphelium: After 26.- Bd5 27. Qxh6+ Ke8 28. Qf6, it looks like black's only defence is 28.- Qe7. Then 29. Nxd5 Qxf6 30. Nxf6+ Ke7 31. Ng4 (31. Ne4?! Rac8 32. Rc3 f5 seems worse) 31.- Rac8 32. Rc3 Rxc3 33. bxc3 Rc8 seems to give black some counterplay. Perhaps there is some 29th move alternative for white?
