Jul-28-08  malthrope: <Sneaky: Folks, this is as exciting as chess gets.>

I agree 1010% <Sneaky> - what a gamble, a risk and a total pleasure for us! :^)

  keypusher: live by the sword...
Jul-28-08  ajile: White pushed too hard. Should have kept the heavy pieces on and accepted a draw.
Jul-28-08  Rickysan: carlsen resigns

keypusher: I am sorry to see it, but congratulations for a great game, Alekseev!
Jul-28-08  percyblakeney: Alekseev got 1.5/2 against Carlsen from positions where he seemed close to losing.

Ulhumbrus: No, it looks like a win for Black. 84..Qb6+ followed by ..Rd8! keeps the White b pawn back.

benveniste: Congratulations to both these warriors. At several points, most people would have shook hands with a draw.

waustad: Seeing Carlsen on the short end in a time scramble. Wow.
Jul-28-08  malthrope: Thank You <CG.com>! :)))
Jul-28-08  zanshin: <kamalakanta: I believe Carlsen will lose this game. Any takers?>

You were right. Do you have any ideas for the lottery numbers in Florida? ;-)

Jul-28-08  cuendillar: Looks like Carlsen played for a loss and succeeded here. An unexpected way to break a long streak, wonder if he can get himself together against a self-confident Bacrot.

PinnedPiece: I'm sure Magnus is very aware of all the criticism of draws in top-level chess. He seems likely to be "aware of the crowd" as someone said earlier. And wants to be a showman, an entertainer.

Hopefully this game will not make him have second thoughts about that.

whiteshark: A great fight, congrats to Alekseev!

It remains exciting in Biel.

Ulhumbrus: little chess partner gave the move 75 c6 instead of 75 Be3
Jul-28-08  chessamateur: With his style he's going to lose some games, even if he seems to come up on top more often than not. This was just one of those games.
