  whiteshark: "The lot brought two rating favourites of the tournamet Humpy Koneru and Antoaneta Stefanova together already in the first day. The attention of fans was absorbed in this match.

May be acclimatization influenced the Indian player or Antoaneta playing black managed to surprise the opponent with the Meran variant of Slavic defense but Humpy lost time thinking more than any other participant of the tournament. It led her to time trouble already by the 20th move of the match. Stefanova looked confident and by the 24th move got material advantage in the form of two pieces for the Rook and quite active position.
