hardliner: I think this is a very open game.
Magnus lost a bit carless to Chuky, but he is known to be able to fight back directly after a loss. In the last game against Carlsen Topalov played ultra solid. His last two games though, indicates that he is not in such a great shape in the last half of the tournament.

Good luck to players and fans and may the best player win. Then I will be happy, he he he.

WannaBe: Topalov, with white, will open 1. h4 and shock the chess world, (he will follow it up with 2. g4)

xenophon: I don't suppose Carlsen would risk the Alekhine again would he?
Sep-10-08  Waitaka: I did bet $100 chessbucks on draw, but I hope Carlsen wins.

Robin01: Is Topalov going to risk 1.e4 and a Dragon by Carlsen?
Sep-10-08
Premium Chessgames Member
AdrianP: I don't think Carlsen can afford to be anything other than a moving target opening wise. Topalov will have done some serious work on the Dragon and Alekhine, and I doubt Carlsen will want to turn this game into a homework contest.

Robin01: Perhaps Topalov has prepared something against Carlsen's (a6) Dragon.

Geronimo: Wasn't one of the shortest grandmaster games in history something like 1.h4,h5 1/2-1/2 as some sort of protest against a scoring system?
Sep-10-08
Premium Chessgames Member
Geronimo: If so, it isn't in the database. CG.com has 8 games starting 1.h4. Maybe its the MAD attack!!!
