Sep-12-08  Illogic: Nice finish!
Sep-20-08  voidoid: So, I heard that 59...Ka2 draws. Any thoughts?
Sep-23-08  ionnn: 59 ... Ka2!! draws but 54 Ng5 seems to win with the idea : 54 ... Kc4 55 Nf7!!

GIAaron: But against 54...e4 it appears White has nothing in this line

GIAaron: Ok yes I agree that 54 Ng5 looks winning.
37...h5 is a bad idea both analytically and of course in principle. The correct way to draw I think is 36...Bd3 in order to maintain the bishop on the b1 to h7 diagonal, and leave the king side pawns alone. Should Black keep the last pair of Rooks on the board for a dynamically = position?

  GrahamClayton: Black missed an earlier drawing opportunity with 44..♗g4 45.hg6 ♗d1 46.♔d3 ♗b3 47.♔c3 ♗g8 48.♔b4 a6, and White cannot break into Black's position.
Jun-08-18  Albion 1959: I remember watching this game live on line. It was a fascinating endgame to watch unfold. I had a feeling that white would win, but I did not see how it could be done. Such fine margins in an endgame like this are the difference between a draw or a loss. A sickener for Arkell, who must thought he could get a draw out of this, only to resign a pawn up ! I also recall that GM Jon Speelman did a lot of analysis on this endgame for a column he was writing in one of the papers. I think it was the Times, but I can't be sure and could be wrong:
Jun-08-18  WorstPlayerEver: 52... Bc2 also draws:

Jun-18-18  Omnipotent00001: White mates in 23, 61. Kf4
Jun-18-18  JPi: The execution may not be perfect but it remains very impressive. White kept all the game enough tension to finally confused his opponent. I learn a lot from this game!
