 | | Fiberking: <agb2002: <Fiberking: I think the idea for white is to go to c3 with the King.> Perhaps Kramnik would go then with his king to e4> That was not possible because of white's rook on f1. Now Anand played Rc1, probably with the idea of playing e4 (keeping out the black King) and approaching the black c pawn via e4 and d4. I prefered "my" plan (ha!), for the latter allows black to go Rf8 and own the f-file. Obviously, Anand knows better so let's see. |

 | | Philistine: I remember the young Kramnik learning at the feet of Botnivik. Mikhail would look down at his young pupil with a beatific glimmer in his eye. Such high hopes. |
 |

 | | scrambler: Wait a minute say Kramink sacs his c pawn if it guaranteed him and exchange of rooks then he might be able to draw even a pawn down. |
 |

 | | chancho: I picked Anand to win, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this kind of beatdown. |

 | | Woody Wood Pusher: Are we sure Karpov limited himself to just the first move for Anand? |
 |
Oct-23-08
 | | NakoSonorense: I think it will be a draw. Anand can't be that cruel... |
 |
Oct-23-08
 | | grebenarov: May be Kramnik will start pushing his a and b pawns in order to stabilize his c |
 |
Oct-23-08
 | | percyblakeney: Normally Kramnik should draw this but he must feel rather demoralised at the moment. |

 | | mckmck: 31. g4 a5 32. bxa5 bxa5 Then .. Nb6 is good for black. |
 |
Oct-23-08
 | | grebenarov: K's next move will be a6 |

 | | GM Renier Gonzalez: b5 is the threat now living black in swuaswang or however you write it. |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Any chances of a Kramnik fortress after 31...a6 32.b5 a5? |
 |
Oct-23-08
 | | AdrianP: if a5 then b5 and Black's just given himself more problems. c-pawn will fall and b6 (on a dark square) is a permanent worry. |
 |

 | | SCUBA diver: The white King wants to end up at d4. .. |
 |
Oct-23-08
 | | PinnedPiece: <GM Renier Gonzalez: b5 is the threat now living black in swuaswang or however you write it.> Yes, but how does Anand get rid of the black rook? Otherwise it can dnace about forever. |

 | | Woody Wood Pusher: I like b5 for white. If he gets that in next, who knows....I have given up looking for a plan for black, he just has to take it on the chin for the next 10 moves or until Anand gets bored. |

 | | arkansaw: Kramnik needs to play a couple of □ soon, and when he doesn't it's gonna become 1.x...2.x...1-0 |
 |

 | | GM Renier Gonzalez: Thhank you. |

 | | AdrianP: This one will go into the textbooks as a fantastic example of minor piece domination (the B dominates the N). I have to admit I underestimated the d6 bishop earlier. |

 | | scrambler: <GM Renier Gonzalez: b5 is the threat now living black in swuaswang or however you write it.> But say white plays b5 and black sacs the c pawn to exchange rooks how does the white king get in. |

 | | Philistine: I can't watch this anymore. It is too depressing. It makes me want to drink vodka and revel in my misery as a gulag prisoner. |
