Jim Bartle: Looks like somebody forgot about that bishop on a1...

Seriously, players are so used to typical patterns and positions; I wonder if Nielsen would have missed it if the bishop had been on the more usual square b2.

Jan-26-09  nhat8121: Danielsen says, when Rxf7, Peter jumped out of his chair.
May-02-09  WhiteRook48: this is one of the weirdest mates I have ever seen.
May-02-09  waustad: Many a slip twixt paper cup and lip.
Feb-16-11  avberagejoe: Danielsen's own annotation of this game can be found here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?d...

To quote Danielsen:
"I think this game is as close to art, as a chess game can be, its very beautiful."

on 22. rxf7 "I remember Peter jumped in his seat, and then he analysed the position for a long time. And I saw the sweat began to run down his chin, and at that point I knew I had him"

May-14-11  muratski: This game must be the GOTD one day!!
