Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-20-09  Al2009: It seems to me that Ni Hua missed a stronger and faster way to win after 28...h5. Instead of 29. a6?! if White played 29. h4! the game was immediately over.

if a) 29...gxh4 (or 29...g4) then 30. Qf4! Rh7 31. Qd6!! (with the idea 32. Qxf8+! and Ra8 or Rb8 mate!) Re8 (the only possible) 32. Re7, Rf8 (if 32...Rc8 simply 33. Rd7! and Rd8)33. Rd7! and no way to avoid mate (33...Qxf2 34. Qxf8! and then mate, or 33...Re8 34. Rd8 and then mate).

If b) 29...e5 then 30. Qc5! threatens both Qxf8! and Rc8 etc.

If c) 29...Qe4 30. Qxe4 dxe4 31. hxg5 and g6

Forget 29. a6?!, 29. h4! is stronger...

Jan-20-09  Al2009: to be more clear:
in the var. a) after 29...gxh4 30. Qf4, Rh7 (if 30...Qe4 31. Qg5+ Qg6 32. Qxg6+ fxg6 33. Rg7 mate) 31. Qd6!!, Re8 32. Re7 Rf8 33. Red7! (not the other Rook, White keeps on threatening Qxf8 and mate) etc., white wins by keeping the Queen on the dark squares
